Chatham Borough (07928) is located in Morris County, NJ. The community has a total area of 2.5 square miles and has approximately 3,200 housing units. The Borough has a downtown center located along Main Street with specialty shops and restaurants. The Chatham Train Station is also located downtown and is within walking distance for most residents. The train station offers an easy commute to NYC which makes Chatham real estate very desirable. Most of the homes and neighborhoods in the Borough were established prior to the 1960s. Many of the homes are situated on compact property lots and feature old world charm. Beautiful victorian and colonial homes from the late 1800s and early 1900s are common. In recent years, builders have found it profitable to knock-down and replace older ranch and cape homes with high-end new construction. In 2005, Chatham Borough was recognized by Money Magazine as one of the "Best Places to Live" in the United States, ranked 9th. Chatham Borough and Chatham Township have a joint school district and are commonly referred to as The Chathams.
