Morris Plains Borough (07950) is located in Morris County, NJ. The community has a total area of 2.6 square miles and has approximately 2,000 housing units. The Borough is one of the smaller municipalities in Morris County. The community is best known for its friendly downtown area, convenient train station, and picture perfect neighborhoods. You can walk to the train station from many of the homes surrounding the downtown area. Most of the homes and neighborhoods surrounding the downtown were established before the 1950s and feature level streets with evenly spaced smaller homes. The hill to the north of Granniss Avenue was developed beginning in the 1950s and offers larger homes and property sizes. Morris Plains does not have its own high school. Students for grades 9-12 attend Morristown High School.

Commute

Morris Plains has convenient access to Interstate 287 which runs north-south through Morris County and offers an easy connection to major east-west routes including Interstate 80, 280, and NJ Route 24. The community has a train station on the NJ Transit Morristown Line with direct service to Hoboken or NY Penn Station. Passengers who take the Hoboken train can switch to the PATH to reach NYC. Passengers who take the Midtown Direct train will arrive at NY Penn Station in about 65 minutes. Passengers can transfer at Newark Broad Street or Summit to reach the other destination if necessary.

Schools

Morris Plains Public Schools educate students from kindergarten through 8th grade. Public schools in the district are Mountain Way School for grades K-2 and Borough School for grades 3-8. Students in for grades 9-12 attend Morristown High School, which also serves the communities of Morristown and Morris Township.

Recreation

Morris Plains offers numerous activities and programs through the Morris Plains Recreation Department. Programs are for children, teens, and adults and include activities such as yoga, pilates, dance, book club, college prep courses, and indoor sports. Around Morris Plains are a wide number of historic attractions and museums including Washington's Headquarters, MacCulloch Hall Museum and Gardens, the Morris County Historical Society's Acorn Hall, Historic Speedwell Village, Fosterfields Living Historical Farm, Frelinghuysen Arboretum and the Morris Museum.
